Daniel Radcliffe will play “Weird Al” Yankovic in a film about the unexaggerated true story of the greatest musician and sex symbol of our time. Weird: The Al Yankovic Story alongside Evan Rachel Wood (Westworld, Across the Universe) as Madonna, Rainn Wilson (The Office, The Meg) as Dr. Demento, Toby Huss (Cop Shop, Halloween) as Nick Yankovic and Julianne Nicholson (I, Tonya, Mare of Easttown) as Mary Yankovic.
Radcliffe most recently starred in Paramount’s The Lost City, alongside Sandra Bullock and Channing Tatum. His TBS series, Miracle Workers, with Steve Buscemi, Geraldine Viswanathan and Karan Soni, was recently picked up for a fourth season. Radcliffe also executive produces the show.
Radcliffe’s film and television credits include eight films in the Harry Potter series, Miracle Workers: Dark Ages, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt: Kimmy vs. the Reverend, Escape from Pretoria, Guns Akimbo, The Woman in Black, A Young Doctor’s Notebook, Jungle, Now You See Me 2, Swiss Army Man, Imperium, Kill Your Darlings, Victor Frankenstein, Horns, What If, Extras and The Simpsons. Weird: The Al Yankovic Story is the outrageous biopic of the unique artist who gained fame and fortune by parodying hit songs. A true-life story about the man who turned twisting popular lyrics into a hugely successful career had to be equally twisted, befitting the man, the myth, the legend known to the world as “Weird Al” Yankovic. The film follows Weird Al’s meteoric rise from misfit kid to aspiring accordion player to chart-topping megastar (in an extremely specific genre of music), revealing his decadent lifestyle, his torrid affair with the Material Girl herself, and his shocking encounter with an infamous international drug lord.
Weird: The Al Yankovic Story is a Roku original film, made by A Funny Or Die and Tango Production, streaming on Paramount+ from Thursday, 2 March.
